My Story

Kristen Williams is a homeschooling mother of 2, community organizer, village Auntie and playful soul. As a child Kristen enjoyed camping, playing hide and seek and climbing trees. As an adult you can find her playing in West Louisville’s historic parks with her children or bird watching in her backyard. Her passion for children's programming and storytelling led her to found Play Cousins Collective with like minded parents and extended kin in 2017. Kristen’s rites of passage were writing for the Courier Journal under acclaimed journalist, Betty Baye, participating in the YMCA’s Leaders Club and Black Achievers as well as  experiencing the mash of cultures and privileges or lack thereof found in downtown Louisville as a student at Presentation Academy. She hopes that during the program participants will gain language to express and pursue the things they are passionate about, do necessary asset mapping and learn the skills needed to connect them to the city, community and lineage of people who have come before them.
