What is the Rites of Passage?

Rites of Passage have existed in all historically known societies and mark the passage from one social status to another. The Louisville Rites of Passage Program is focused on the passage of youth from adolescence to adulthood. Click here to join!

LROP provides opportunities for self-development, cultural awareness and fosters a sense of belonging in community life that recognizes the need to find purpose and take on responsibilities. Nature also has a rich history in Rites of Passage programs. LROP will provide opportunities for youth to experience deep connections with nature in the urban community and the forest.

In the Louisville Rites of Passage program, youth will pursue collective and individualized goals through a hands-on program structured along four Focus Areas: Heritage, Community, Land and Self determination.
